Clariant Produkte (Deutschland) GmbH is expanding production of flame retardants in Knapsack
Clariant plans at the Knapsack site the construction of a new facility "FSM II ", by which the DEPAL Knapsack capacity in mid-2012 will be doubled. The first excavators are already rolling. The new building "FSM II " will be erected in late 2011.

Statkraft will start preparatory construction work for new
The Norwegian energy company Statkraft is planning to build at the Chemiepark Knapsack the world's most advanced combined-cycle power plants (CHP) with a generating capacity of 430 megawatts. The company will now start preparatory work on the actual construction, which will continue until mid-August. The approval process for the construction and operation of the power plant according to Federal Pollution Control Act is nearing completion. Statkraft is expecting the construction and operating license for the plant mid-year. The actual construction will begin following the granting of planning permission and the final internal decision.
