Dialogue

The Chemical Park Knapsack was designed to be an accessible industrial structure and practices open communication with the surrounding community members in exactly the same way. The companies in the Chemical Park Knapsack endeavor to uphold active and informative communication policies beyond their own surroundings and strive to exchange information with the community, press, business organizations and political bodies, schools and institutes of higher education in order to arouse enthusiasm for and to promote the chemical industry and modern technology.

Therefore, we regularly organize discussion forums, tours of the chemical park, and information events as well as continually sustaining our efforts to develop long-lasting partnerships.

Dialogue with the community

The site’s operator, InfraServ GmbH & Co. KG, is authorized to represent the collective businesses in the Chemical Park Knapsack with regard to the general public. The collective group therefore provides the information on this website to everyone in the community, as well as press releases, announcements, photo material and texts for media representatives. In addition, it also publishes an employees’ magazine, KnapsackSPIEGEL, and makes it available to everyone interested, in and outside the chemical park.

We gladly offer tours of the Chemical Park Knapsack to groups of 10 to 50 persons, whereby they receive insight into and information about its development and the companies on site. The “open day” events provide the community with a more comprehensive view of the different areas in the chemical park. A citizens’ information telephone (02233 48-60001) is manned around the clock by a representative of the chemical park to answer questions and to give information about adverse incidents.

Dialogue with regional educational institutions

In cooperation with various educational institutions, we take responsibility for stimulating the interests and development of upcoming generations in the chemical industry and technology.

Even in primary schools helping students to learn to take an interest in the natural sciences, computer science, mathematics and technology is actively promoted through the programs of the “Knapsacker Kinderakademie”, whereby these very young children can themselves become active in the chemical park. In addition, TuWaS (Technology and Science in Schools) offers programs for young people.

Cooperation contracts with secondary schools, such as the Friedrich-Ebert-Realschule in Hürth and the Elisabeth-von-Thüringen Realschule in Brühl cover job application training seminars, internships and business orientation days for students and teachers as well as carrying out panel discussions and some sample teaching in companies.

A continual exchange of knowledge and information with the universities in the region also takes place thanks to initiatives of ChemCologne and the RHEIN-ERFT-AKADEMIE, the latter of which is located in the chemical park. Students especially profit from the high degree of practical experience.

Dialogue with decision makers

First hand information is of great importance for both political decision makers as well as communal and higher level government administrators. Therefore, the companies regularly inform political groups and representatives from different authorities on location in the chemical park by way of  tours and information events, such as “Politics after Work”, where the most current developments can be discussed.
