Noise protection
Work processes in the manufacturing industry today are marked by a high percentage of mechanical production processes that are inevitably coupled with noise emissions. The companies located in the Chemical Park Knapsack endeavor to keep the adverse effects on the neighboring community, the environment and employees to a minimum.
Noise expertise carried out by external institutes for measurement control and work done by a specialized internal department constitute the basis for noise reduction concepts during the planning phase of plants, so that noise limits in the chemical park and in the surrounding area are adhered to. Even during the construction phase or when plants are modified, appropriate noise reduction measures are taken, such as the use of noise insulation and the shielding of construction sites, both of which help to keep noise levels to a minimum.
Noise pollution stemming from the chemical park is monitored at six measuring points in the surrounding neighborhood. Due to the fact that the affects of sound on a certain area depends on the number of and the type of noise source involved and the fact that conditions can be influenced by weather causing considerable fluctuations, measurements are taken over long periods by a mobile measurement station.
The affects of noise is continually measured up to 30 days a year and the results are then assessed and evaluated.
