Emergency organization
There are a lot of employees in the Chemical Park Knapsack. The safety of employees, the neighboring community, the environment and the companies on site is paramount. This is also true in case of acute incidents.
Plant alarm plans, rescue and first-aid personnel as well as fire protection personnel (a collective emergency operations system) ensure that persons in the affected plants are warned in time enabling them to leave the danger zone safely.
Specialized personnel from environmental protection agencies are always available for measuring levels should there be any offensive odors or noise disturbances, especially where the neighboring community is involved.
Whether an emergency call is taken by the works security switchboard or automatic alarm signals from the plants resound due to an incident, the works own private fire department reacts to emergencies around the clock in order to minimize danger and damages.
An emergency manager works with the chemical park’s own private fire department. This is an experienced manager from the safety prevention sector, who, in case of emergency, has manifold competencies concerning the chemical park and can judge any possible impact. The emergency manager initiates a warning for the neighboring community, should a dangerous situation occur, using the chemical park’s warning sirens and radio broadcasts. This person also receives the first information from authorities.
In case of a serious incident, the emergency manager calls the center of emergency operations control bringing together a task force made up of the managers of the companies operating in the Chemical Park Knapsack.
This team coordinates the emergency call of everyone involved in and outside the chemical park and initiates the communication of emergency information to fire and rescue personnel, the neighboring community, authorities and the press.
