Private works fire department

The fire department is a certified full-time works private fire department and a part of InfraServ GmbH & Co. KG Knapsack, the operator of the chemical park.

Damage and / or danger control measures begin anywhere in the chemical park inside 5 minutes.

Cooperation with the public fire departments is ensured through the involvement in radio communications of the authorities and other organizations dealing in safety (BOS). There are three free and clear telephone lines to the control center of the Rhine-Erft district.

The private works fire department has its own intercom system for internal communications and information exchange in the chemical park, whereby all plant control centers and important persons can be simultaneously and immediately informed. It is also responsible for fire prevention and protection and other special functions, such as training for plant employees regarding emergency fire procedures, the use of fire extinguishers and the use of protective breathing apparatus.

Over one hundred emergency drills take place in the plants on site annually. Besides their daily training and special training seminars, the works fire protection workers have specialized knowledge of the complex chemical plants on the site. Regular discussions and meetings take place between the private works fire department and the public fire departments of the City of Hürth and the surrounding cities as well as with other specialized personnel working on other chemical sites.

When new plants are being planned, the private works fire department defines and determines the fire protection measures necessary. A description of these measures is added to the approval applications for a plant or facility.

There are alarm plans for all of the operational areas of the companies in the chemical park where particulars, such as feedstocks, plant fire protection equipment etc. are documented.
