YOUR LOCATION
IN THE HEART OF EUROPE
The Chemiepark Knapsack is situated at the center of Germany's leading chemical region and in the immediate vicinity of Europe's key markets. There are nearly 150 million people living within a radius of 500 kilometers. This represents 30% of all the consumers and 45% of the purchasing power in the European Union. It is not least for this reason that North Rhine-Westphalia is the most popular investment location for foreign companies in Germany..
The central location is a convincing argument: In the region around Cologne, more than 230 chemical companies with a total of some 65,000 employees have set up business. In 2011, they generated sales of approx. 26.6 billion euros (not including the pharmaceutical industry). This represents 20% of total sales in the German chemical industry. Ideal conditions for your investment.
Outstanding transport connections
The excellent transport infrastructure and the dense freeway network in the region allow you to conduct a swift exchange of goods with customers throughout Europe. Three freeway junctions – Hürth/Gleuel and Knapsack on the A1 and Köln-Klettenberg on the A4 – serve as access points to the Cologne freeway network. The distance to the next freeway junction (Knapsack) is just four kilometers with no cross-town traffic. Cologne Bonn Airport is about 30 kilometers away.
The Chemiepark Knapsack is also located at one of Europe's most important rail hubs. The chemical park's own public container terminal acts as a satellite to both the multimodal transshipment center Cologne-Eifeltor and the large-scale terminal at Cologne-Niehl port 20 kilometers away. At the same time, the rail track serves as a link to the Rhine port Cologne-Godorf and the Deutsche Bahn rail network.
Attractive surroundings
The chemical park is subdivided into the sections Knapsack (approx. 60 hectares) and Hürth (approx. 100 hectares). The two zones are interconnected by an internal road, a rail track and a pipeline. A safe distance of around 600 meters to the next residential area ensure good relations between the producers and their neighbors.
By comparison, the points of contact in the field of research and development are much closer. Renowned universities and research institutes provide innovative companies in the chemical industry with ideal conditions and huge potential in terms of qualified employees. The famously high quality of life in the open-minded Rhineland and the neighboring cathedral city of Cologne will also convince you..
