FEIERABENDHAUS
KNAPSACK'S LANDMARK

The Feierabendhaus has been the landmark of Knapsack since 1957. The listed architectural gem is easily recognizable by its shell-like shape. The Feierabendhaus was built by the Cologne architect Karl Hell and served initially as an event building for the employees of the then Knapsack Griesheim AG.

Today we use Knapsack's unique hallmark as a place of encounter and dialog. The Feierabendhaus is the ideal location to inform you, the citizens, political representatives and the media about new developments at the Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack and to hold discussions with these groups.

In addition, the Feierabendhaus has developed into a popular event location. Every year, numerous cultural events, theater performances, art exhibitions and concerts as well as congresses and conferences take place here. Film companies like to use the unusual architecture as a backdrop for their productions. Interested citizens can book the Feierabendhaus as an original venue for their private functions.

ENERGY SUPPLY

The reliable and economical supply of sufficient energy is one of the most important prerequisites for the chemical industry. The chemical park operator InfraServ Knapsack provides the manufacturing companies with the necessary energies in the form of electricity and process steam.

The continuous main load of the energy supply is borne by the refuse-derived fuel (RDF) power plant of E.ON Energy from Waste, where up to 300,000 tons of refuse-derived fuel are thermally utilized every year. This service is complemented by the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant of the Norwegian energy company Statkraft. With 800 MW of installed capacity it is one of the largest CCGT power plants in Germany. A further combined gas turbine power plant with capacity of 400 MW is currently under construction. The energy supply of the Chemiepark Knapsack is thus guaranteed, also at peak load time.
