Check-In

Before entering the works premises, external company employees are instructed in the basic rules and regulations regarding safety and correct conduct within the Chemiepark Knapsack by means of the check-in (safety briefing). Following the briefing, the external company employee must participate in an efficiency review in the form of a test. If failed, the test may be repeated a maximum of two times. It is available in several languages and valid for one year, after which it must be taken again. Each employee can prepare for the test at www.chemiepark-knapsack.de under the link "External companies".

A specific briefing on the work order is provided by the client or company concerned. When entering the company the external company employee must register at the registration office before commencing work. Upon leaving the company the employee is required to check out.

ID and entry permit

For work lasting up to 5 working days the external company employee is issued with a short-term ID card with access authorization for the Chemiepark Knapsack. For work at the Chemiepark Knapsack lasting more than 5 working days an external company ID card with photo is issued. The ID cards are not transferable and are the property of the InfraServ Knapsack. If the ID card is lost or damaged, a charge of € 25.00 will be made.

If it is necessary for vehicles to enter the chemical park, an entry permit may be applied for. This permit is not transferable to other persons or vehicles. For work of a longer duration the vehicle driver is issued with a yellow disc which is to be displayed visibly on the vehicle. On the works premises, only the parking facility allocated by the client is to be used. Driving on the company premises of the production plant requires a separate permit from the company concerned. All vehicles must comply with the regulations of the German traffic code (StVo) in terms of their roadworthiness and equipment.

ENERGY SUPPLY

The reliable and economical supply of sufficient energy is one of the most important prerequisites for the chemical industry. The chemical park operator InfraServ Knapsack provides the manufacturing companies with the necessary energies in the form of electricity and process steam.

The continuous main load of the energy supply is borne by the refuse-derived fuel (RDF) power plant of E.ON Energy from Waste, where up to 300,000 tons of refuse-derived fuel are thermally utilized every year. This service is complemented by the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant of the Norwegian energy company Statkraft. With 800 MW of installed capacity it is one of the largest CCGT power plants in Germany. A further combined gas turbine power plant with capacity of 400 MW is currently under construction. The energy supply of the Chemiepark Knapsack is thus guaranteed, also at peak load time.
