OPEN DAYS
GET TO KNOW THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRIAL PARK

Interest in the Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack is gratifying high. Many people would like to know what the companies produce here and how they do it. And we will always be glad to open the doors for them.

You can arrange an appointment for a group visit via our Communications Department. The groups can be school children or students who would like to obtain information about job opportunities at the chemical industrial park or interested citizens or politicians wishing to gain insights into our work: You are all welcome.

As an alternative to this, the Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack itself frequently issues invitations to visit the complex. Together with the companies on site we hold Open Days for the general public. The aim is to provide information about the companies on site as well as about the opportunities, research findings and relevance of the chemical industry for each and every one of us.

Our nationwide Open Day takes place every three years. The next one will be in 2014. You will find further details promptly here on our website or in the local daily press. We look forward to seeing you!

ENERGY SUPPLY

The reliable and economical supply of sufficient energy is one of the most important prerequisites for the chemical industry. The chemical park operator InfraServ Knapsack provides the manufacturing companies with the necessary energies in the form of electricity and process steam.

The continuous main load of the energy supply is borne by the refuse-derived fuel (RDF) power plant of E.ON Energy from Waste, where up to 300,000 tons of refuse-derived fuel are thermally utilized every year. This service is complemented by the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant of the Norwegian energy company Statkraft. With 800 MW of installed capacity it is one of the largest CCGT power plants in Germany. A further combined gas turbine power plant with capacity of 400 MW is currently under construction. The energy supply of the Chemiepark Knapsack is thus guaranteed, also at peak load time.
