PRODUCTS FROM KNAPSACK
IN EVERYDAY LIFE

The chemical industry is characterized by constant change and continuous innovation. Materials are converted and modified in complex processes and reactions until the desired and necessary properties become usable. The goal is to improve the quality of life through scientific progress. At the Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack raw materials and products are created which we all use in our everyday lives, and research and development work is conducted for our future.

Products from the Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack form the basis for numerous everyday conveniences. CD covers, water pipes and plastic window frames, crop protection products against fungal infestation in the garden, insulation materials for homes or lubricants for car engines are just a few examples of the uses of the products and know-how from the companies in Knapsack.

Improvements as well as new materials and technologies are constantly under development. For example, even more efficient flame retardants and the most advanced high-temperature superconductors for low-loss energy technology are created here thanks to the innovative spirit of the companies at the Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack.

Chemistry is fascinating. We will be more than glad to prove it to you. We would like to awaken your interest in chemicals and technology with our regular events and direct dialog. Click here to learn more about the accomplishments of the companies on site at the Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack.

ENERGY SUPPLY

The reliable and economical supply of sufficient energy is one of the most important prerequisites for the chemical industry. The chemical park operator InfraServ Knapsack provides the manufacturing companies with the necessary energies in the form of electricity and process steam.

The continuous main load of the energy supply is borne by the refuse-derived fuel (RDF) power plant of E.ON Energy from Waste, where up to 300,000 tons of refuse-derived fuel are thermally utilized every year. This service is complemented by the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant of the Norwegian energy company Statkraft. With 800 MW of installed capacity it is one of the largest CCGT power plants in Germany. A further combined gas turbine power plant with capacity of 400 MW is currently under construction. The energy supply of the Chemiepark Knapsack is thus guaranteed, also at peak load time.
